With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James M. Vail Jr. (Chicago, Illinois), who passed away on January 9, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James and Margaret; his mother-in-law Mary Rasmussen; and his brother-in-law Barney. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo; his children, Jimmy (Erin), Katie Norris (Kevin), Becky Rusch (Bob) and Jenny Griffin (Mike); his grandchildren, Mary Kate, Jimmy, Tommy Vail, Sarah, Julia, Billy Norris, Tony, Bobby, Owen, Brady Rusch, Mickey, Clare and Josephine Griffin; his siblings, Tim (Rita), Mary Anne Sereiko (Jack), Mike (Jeanne), Meg Kelly (late Mike) and Mary Fran (Maureen); his siblings-in-law, Terry (Joan), Lorraine Mannion (Rod) and Tim; and his son-in-law Mike Griffin. He is also survived by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, childhood friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Cajetan Church (2445 W 112th St, Chicago, IL 60655). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803).
