He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joanie Margolis; his children, Barry Leavitt (Esther Kusy-Leavitt), Marvin Leavitt (Patty), Judie Olson (Jon), Margo Svendsen (Alex), Haley Bogdan, Cameron Leavitt (Aysha Ali), Harrison Kusy-Leavitt, Marissa Kusy-Leavitt and Raquel Ventosa (Tony); and his great grandchildren, Hank, Jax Bogdan, Vivienne, Alexi Svendsen, Nico Ventosa and Ayah Leavitt.

In Bernie's honor, memorial donations may be sent to one of the following charities that are close to his grandchildren: FoxG1 Foundation, Experience Camp, or Lupis Research.
