She is survived by: her mother A. Sue Baxter (James); her husband Juan C. Nieves; her children, Stephanie Tainter, Darrold Tainter, Brandy Thorn, Kristen Thorn, Carole Baez, Juan I. Nieves (Alissa), Celina Nieves (Nicolas) and Bianca Nieves; her grandchildren, Jorge Baez Jr., Vikki Baez, Jesus Olivo, Rafael Olivo Jr. and Nicolas Alvarado III; her siblings, Phillip Carter, Jillian Clausing (James), Lisa Castaneda, Clay Baxter (Pam), Sybil Carter and Keetha Moore (Milton); her nieces and nephews, Amanda Hiller, Jimmy, Megan Clausing, Claire Paynter (Braden) and Kathryn Baxter; her extended family Mexico; her father Albert H. Carter (Nancy); and her pet Maxamillian.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Brandy Thorn Memorial Scholastic Book Fund at Lewis E. Rowe Elementary School or the American Cancer Society.
