He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Montrey and Jane Montrey (Compton); and his sister Juli Busby. He is survived by: his wife Margie; his sons, Brian Montrey of Santa Clarita, CA, Ted Montrey (Chris) of Pawnee, IL and Jeffrey Montrey of Springfield; his grandsons, Brandon Montrey (Abigayle), Nicholas Montrey (Jaquelin), Justin Montrey (Erin) and Trevor Montrey; his great grandchild Bellamy Montrey; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Busby and Olivia Schuckman (Scott).

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars).
