Mary Elizabeth Simonson Obituary
We are sad to announce that on January 24, 2025, at the age of 82, Mary Elizabeth Simonson of Chatham, Illinois, born in Olney, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Calvin Hamilton James and Geneva Elizabeth Elder James; her siblings, David James (Gail) and Carol Rohr (Al); and the father of her children Dennis F. Simonson.
She is survived by: her sons, Kevin (Angela) of Springfield, IL and Mark (Andi) of Seattle, WA; her grandson Sam Simonson of Champaign, IL; and her siblings, Ilene Adams (Pat) of Heltonville, IN, Roger (Carol) of Dundas, IL, Dan (Kay) of Haubstadt, IN and John (Linda) of Marshall, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church (700 E Spruce St, Chatham, IL 62629). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Calvary Cemetery (500 N Church St, Newton, IL 62448).
