He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Louis and Stephanie Ann Shaner (Myskowsky); and his siblings, Norbert, Donald Shaner and LaVerne Sikowich.

He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Adele Coppens; and his sons, James Shaner, Jr. (Theresa) of Springfield and Eric Shaner of Chatham. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Springfield Right to Life or St. Joseph the Worker Church.
