He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Nathan Everett, Nellie Turpin, Charlie and Grace Gholson; his brothers, Philip Fred and Rev. William Gholson; his siblings-in-law, Pauline Gholson, Ronnie Ego and Robert R. "Bob" Cox; and his niece Donna Kay Ego.
He is survived by: his children, Meredith Denise Boner (Michael) of Charleston, IL and Ashley Kane Gholson (Aimee) of Mattoon, IL; his grandchildren, Katelyn Lee Gholson of Pekin, IL and Chase Dawson Clough of Charleston, IL; his sister Phylis Ann Cox of Marion, IL; his friend Dr. Carol Marie Helwig of Charleston, IL; and his nieces and nephews, Christine Mead of Vienna, IL, Carolyn Foster (Don) of Arizona, Ronda Ego of Marion, IL, Roger Gholson of Arizona and Rodney Gholson (Kari Beth) of Vienna, IL.
