He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Otto Smith and Lola Smith (Crum); his parents-in-law, Fritz and Betty Bieber; his wife Penny Smith of Indialantic; his sons, Scott Smith (Stephanie Pankey) of Charleston and Brian Smith (Jennifer) of Charleston; his grandchildren, Ashley Barker (Isaac), Carley Inboden (Riley) of Champaign, Brandon Smith of Charleston, Blake Smith of Charleston and Molly Smith of Charleston; and his great grandchild Oliver Barker of Champaign.
Dick's family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in his honor be made to the EIU Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic or the Wounded Warrior Project.
