He is survived by: his wife Brenda Frost; his children, James Van Meter (Miriam) of Arthur, IL, Joshua Van Meter (Kimberly) of Bethany, IL, Sarah Drumm (Ryan) of Charleston, IL, Johnathan Van Meter (Katy) of Mattoon, IL, Sarina Van (Scott), Kristin, Kimberly Locke of Mattoon, IL and Donald Locke (Amanda Tucker) of Cowden, IL; his siblings, Mary Van Meter Farris of Mattoon, IL and Jerry Van Meter (Angie) of Charleston, IL; his nephew Michael Van Meter; and his brother-in-law Robert Farris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
