Douglas D. Hicks Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Douglas D. Hicks of Charleston, Illinois, who passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Douglas D. may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Douglas D. touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Hicks and Thora Hicks Sorensen (Poulson); and his brother Dustin Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Karen Bussart of Charleston, IL; and his siblings, Deb Coughlon of Iowa, Dan Hicks of Iowa, Rod and Toby Franklin of Charleston, IL.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Sarah Bush Cancer Center, 1000 Health Center Dr., Mattoon, IL 61938, or the donor's choice.
