He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin L. "Jack" Phillips and Helen L. Phillips; his brother-in-law Wayne Johnson; and his parents-in-law, Arthur W. and Margaret R. Boyle.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen M. Phillips; his sons, Wayne R. Phillips and Colin A. Phillips (Alyssa); his siblings, Jack Phillips (Carla), Nancy J. Dennis, Ken E. Phillips, Donald Phillips (Carol) and Diane Anderson (Edward); and his sisters-in-law, Anne Johnson (late Wayne), Margaret A. Boyle, Patricia J. Jackson (Bill) and Eileen E. Boyle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
