Vela of Channahon, Illinois, born in McFaddin, Texas, who passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jose Casas and Margarita Casas (Bazan); her children, Juan Vela and Sylvia Westhoff; her granddaughter Vanessa Sophia Vela; and her son-in-law Jim Chobar.
She is survived by: her spouse Asencion Vela; her children, Carmen Smith, Rosa Chobar, Anna Vela Eberhard (Gary Lakotich) and Asencion Vela (Colleen); and her grandson Jesse (Christina). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
