She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell C. "Jack" Hovey and Grace E. Hovey (Johnson); her husband George "Darrell" Edwards; her siblings, Roger Hovey, Rheta Smith and Joyce Crawford; and her son Kent Edwards.

She is survived by: her children, Mike Edwards (Cheryl), Becky Fisher (Greg) and Steve Edwards (Cheryl); her daughter-in-law Debbi Edwards; her grandchildren, Jason Fisher (Samantha), Brian Fisher, Josh Edwards (Jennifer), Kristy Garrett (Brian) and Lynnsey Brownfield (Dusty); her sisters, Martha Pippin and Kay Price (Larry); and her sister-in-law Janet Hovey. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to a local Humane Society in honor of Virginia's love for animals.
