He is survived by: his children, Leslie Hammersmith (Stephen "Sven" Johnson) of Sadorus, Tracy Hammersmith (Hans Reatsch) of The Netherlands and Craig Hammersmith of Champaign; his granddaughter Chloe Hammersmith of Arvada, CO; his brother-in-law Rick Mullen (Mary) of Mahomet; his niece Karen Munds-Seidel (Stephen) of Iowa; his nephew Rick Munds (Cheryl) of Villa Grove; and his close friends, Don Jones (Mercedes) of Mahomet and Amy Butler of Savoy.
