He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Helman and Lily Helman (Robins); his wife Abetta L. Helman; his sister Myra Schwartz; and his brothers-in-law, Samuel Schwartz and Bill Savran.

He is survived by: his children, David N. Helman and Deborah L. Helman; and his friend Wayne R. Hayes. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
