He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay William and Rubye Gossett (Osterdock). He is survived by: his siblings, Jay Gossett (Donna) of Champaign and Kay Barker (Jim) of Urbana; his nieces and nephews, Debbie Gossett (Dave Campbell), Amber Barker (Daniel Loveall), Jamie Gossett (Sara) and Shad Barker (Becky); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Shelby Campbell, Lillianna Loveall, Ryan Gossett, Tyler Campbell, Seth Gossett, Jacob Barker and Chase Alexander. He is also survived by son, taking care of his mother until her death, caring brother, loving Uncle and great Uncle and a wonderful caregiver for all the family animals.
To encourage others during this pandemic, Dick took it upon himself to visit the church daily at noon to ring the church bell for hope of better times ahead.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Dick's name to the Savoy United Methodist Church, 3002 West Old Church Road, Savoy.
