He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Thompson and Eva Yarber Thompson; his wife Terri Bilbrey; his daughter Emily Thompson of Houston; and his sister Scarlett Kelly of Gardner. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
