He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Ellis and Ida Fields Bass; his brother David; and his grandmothers, Maggie Fields and Gertrude Washington (Sharon Fields).
He is survived by: his caregiver Kim Ignasiak; his daughters, Brooke Allen (Joseph Sr), Aleysia Fields, Yvette Fields and Regina Fields; his grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Mariah, Alexander (AJ) and Jacob Allen; his siblings, Carla Fields and Armond Bass; his stepfather George Bass; and his aunts, Ruby Wilson, Edna Washington and Joyce Fields. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
