He was predeceased by: his parents, William Wachter and Frieda Wachter; and his brother Bill. He is survived by: his wife Sarah "Sally" DeVault; his sons, Scot (Cindy), Bret (Jodie), Kurt (Bridget) and Matt (Stacy); his grandchildren, Philip, Anna, Ryan, Brooke, Tim, Jeff, Alexandra and Emily; and his nieces, Lauren Fecte and Joan Breitegam.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur Public Schools Foundation or the Decatur Public Library.
