He was predeceased by: his parents, Oby Harlen and Mary Pauline Steed (Cranmer). He is survived by: his wife Linda L. Hutchinson; his children, Ronald Steed of Missouri, Marvela "Angel" Helmkamp of Granite City, Wesley Harlen Steed, Jr. of Mount Vernon, David Steed, Shelley Rose of Centralia, Crystal Rainey (Daniel) of Springfield and Christopher Ray of Centralia, Illinois; and his siblings, Carol Davis (Darrell) of Wood River and Jerry Lynn Steed of Eminence, Missouri.. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
