He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bethard and Mildred Bethard (Marlow); his sister Joyce Bethard-Haberman; and his granddaughter Anastasia Bethard. He is survived by: his wife Robin Bethard; his children, Eric Bethard (Aaron), Wesley Bethard (Corrine) and Wendy Seibert (Dustin); his stepsons, Matthew Thouvenin (Leigh), Joshua Thouvenin and Lucas Thouvenin (JoAnn); his grandchildren, Maddy Bethard, Noah Bethard, Aiden Bethard, Cora Bethard, Cheyanne McGrath, Tori McGrath, Lexi McGrath, Paisley Thouvenin and Joe Thouvenin; and his siblings, Larry Bethard (Patty), Gerald Bethard (Jane), Debbie Bethard-Caplick (James) and Susan Bethard. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
