He was predeceased by: his parents, Lola Marie Brooks (Lynn) and Norman Brooks; his daughter-in-law Christy Brooks; his brother Henry Brooks; and his brother-in-law Myrle Gilbert.

He is survived by: his wife Sherry Jeanne Humphreys; his sons, William Wayne "Billy" Brooks (Becky) of Centralia and Mark Edward Brooks (Penny) of Centralia, Illinois; his grandchildren, Dr. Justin Brooks (Stephanie), Samantha Brooks (Tommy Smith), Rebekah Brooks (Alex Lundquist), Alexandra Brooks, Josie Brooks, Riley Brooks, Jacob Wayne Brooks, Myra Brown, Claire Skillette and Sadie Skillette; his great grandchildren, Landon "Lando" Brooks and Liam Brooks; and his siblings, Robert Brooks (Mary) of Saint Louis, Delbert Brooks (Ruth) of Bunker Hill, Louis Brooks (Anita) of Myrtle Beach and Ruth Ann Gilbert of Greenfield. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family asks those who are attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask, and take any health precautions necessary to ensure a healthy environment.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Brooks' honor to the First Christian Church in Centralia, Illinois or Six Lemons, and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
