He was predeceased by: his parents, Olen Downen and Beulah Downen (Ray); his stepmother Aldean Downen; and his siblings, Patrick Downen, Dena Lively and Marsha Fox.
He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline D. Gomes; his children, Melody Saputo (Vincent) of Acworth, Georgia, Mike Downen of Centralia, Dan Downen (Marbie) of Olney and Kim Nation (Nathaniel) of Ellijay, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Adrienne Hoyt, Anthony Saputo, Taylor Warren, Madison Brokaw, Dakota Brokaw, Summer Downen and Natalie Nation; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Winnie, Joaquin, Gianni and Kate; and his siblings, Michael Downen of DuQuoin, Harriett Taylor and Hollie Hall of Sesser. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Diamond Springs Baptist Church.
