He was predeceased by: his parents, Omar Tate and Ruby Tate (Shaw); his son Jim Tate; and his brothers, Gene Tate, Mervin Tate and Aldin Tate.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Tate (Meredith); his children, Greg Tate (Regina) of Walnut Hill, Leanne Phillips (Danny) of Centralia and Laura Huge (Rick) of Carlyle; his daughter-in-law Rose Tate of Centralia; his grandchildren, Ashley Wilkinson (Eric) of Walnut Hill, Brandon Tate of Champaign, Ryan Tate of Walnut Hill, Hailey Mann (Jon) of Centralia, Seth Tate (Megan) of Centralia, Sevearn Phillips (Brittany) of Walnut Hill, Victoria Phillips (Logan Wollerman), Candie Huge (Mike Brown), Ethan Huge (Molly Althoff) and Ricky Joel Huge of Carlyle; his great grandchildren, Meredith, Drake, Josie, Addie and Drew; and his sister Dorothy Ford of Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
