He was predeceased by: his parents, Horgan Junior Abernathy and Kathryn Louise Chivario (Butler); his daughter Paula LeeAnn Abernathy; and his siblings-in-law, Leanna Swindell, Paula Swindell, Grady Swindell Sr. and Dean Swindell.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Swindell; his daughter Lisa Abernathy of Centralia; his siblings, Charles M. Schaeffer of Centralia, Susan Smith of Fort Myers, FL, Kim Moody (Brad) of Sapulpa, OK and Susan Gilliand of Sapulpa, OK; his nieces and nephews, Charles P. Schaeffer of Centralia, Grady Swindell Jr. of Nexa, MO, Tiffany Ott of Centralia and Ami Finley (Matt) of Centralia; and his brother-in-law John Ott (Candi) of Las Vegas, NV..
