He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Arning and Mary Halstenberg Arning; and his siblings, Warren, Victor, Edwin Arning, Pauline Hicks, Rosalie Maschhoff, Corrine Selmanaj and Frances Meyer.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Guetersloh; his sons, Earl Arning of Centralia and Daniel Arning of Centralia; his granddaughters, Melissa Leuthardt of St. Louis, MO and Jennifer Arning of Newbury, IN.; and his great grandchildren, Ellie of St. Louis, MO. and Hunter Leuthardt of St. Louis, MO..
