Melvin Wade Courter Obituary

We are sad to announce that on November 4, 2020, at the age of 60, Melvin Wade Courter of Centralia, Illinois, born in Vincennes, Indiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin D. "Skinny" Courter and Laura Courter (Wininger); and his brother Charles Michael Courter. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Johns; his children, Tara Landwehr (Dave) of Wentzville, MO, Holly Miller (Brian) of Centralia, Michele Gulley of Benton, Adam Biagi (Molly) of Salem, Timothy Courter (Melissa) of Marion, Melinda Phelps of Centralia, Andy Calvin of Centralia, Alicia Courter of Benton and Melanie Jackson (Mason) of Centralia; his siblings, Steve Courter (Joyce) of Terre Haute, IN and Carol Strate (Ray) of Germantown; his nephew Eric Strate (Wanda) of Coulterville; and his friends, Bruce, Sally and Archie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Due to recent health concerns, masks and social distancing will be required with only 25 in the building at a time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Courter family.
