He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll Dwight (CD) and Juanita Phelps (Apple); his wife Shirley Phelps; his brothers, Jack Carroll Phelps (Worry) and James Phelps; and his niece Elizabeth Ann Phelps Sullivan.
He is survived by: his daughters, Malinda Claybourn (Mark) of Centralia, Melissa Phelps of Fort Worth and Mary Jane Wyatt (Donnie) of Fort Worth, Texas; and his grandchildren, Matthew Garrett of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Michael Garrett of Fort Worth, Zachary Miller of San Diego, Meredith Miller of Centralia, Landon Wyatt and Cameron Wyatt of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Phelps Family.
