Darlene Nelson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darlene Nelson of Centralia, Illinois, who passed away on September 14, 2020, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Swartzlander and Margie Swartzlander (Wazelle); and her brothers, Raymond Swartzlander and Richard Swartzlander. She is survived by: her husband Louis O. Nelson; her daughters, Darla McElroy (Randy) of Royalton and Kirby Albers (David) of Centralia; her grandchildren, Brittany Huff (Josh) of Centralia and Colton Albers of Centralia; her great grandchildren, Hayden Huff of Centralia and Hadley Huff of Centralia; her brother Donnie Swartzlander (Phyllis) of Bryan, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Kay Swartzlander of Centralia and Janice Irvin of Salem; and her nieces and nephews, Ric Swartzlander, Brent Swartzlander (Michele), Gwen Engel, Dean Swartzlander (Tina), Gayle Groves (Jason), Dee Ann Arey, Lex Jorge, Brandon Swartzlander (Breanne) and Jo Ann Sprouse.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 a. m. until the time of the service at the church, where those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
In honor of Darlene, memorial donations may be made to Grace Church of Centralia or to the Centralia Illinois Relay for Life and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Nelson family.
