Bertha L. Ganswind Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha L. Ganswind of Centralia, Illinois, who passed away on January 21, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Gale Chasteen and Lucy Chasteen (Atchison); her husband Robert "Buddy" Ganswind; and her sisters, Doris Taylor, Dortha Sprous and Juanita Belcher.
She is survived by: her former husband Dewey Smallwood; her children, Bill Smallwood (Diane) of Noblesville, IN, Marilyn Lollar (George) of Gulf Shores, AL and Tonia Oberg (Bill) of Centralia; her grandchildren, Angel Edson (Michael), Brett Smallwood, Ric Lollar, Michelle Conway and Taylor Oberg; and her great grandchildren, Carrie, Daniel, Cory, Ian, Connor and Ava.
Due to health concerns, face masks and social distancing will be observed.
In honor of Shorty, memorial donations may be made to the Fireside House Activity Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, IL 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Ganswind family.
