He was predeceased by: his mother Carolyn Thornton; his son Nicholas Thornton; and his grandparents, Robert, Hazel Pettit, B. E. and Vivian Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Malea; his son Daniel Corrie (Heather); his granddaughter Cienna of Colorado; his daughter Lexi Thornton (Lukas Kerstein) of Chicago; his father James Thornton Sr.; and his siblings, Julie Remkus, Tom Thornton (Nikki) and James Thornton Jr. (Beverly). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

They also encourage those who qualify to donate blood in honor of Tim and others who have benefited from blood transfusions.
