She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Gates and Ina Gates; her husband Berdell Shafer (Ted); her children, Peggy Fritz and Ron Shafer; and her granddaughter Angela Fritz.
She is survived by: her children, Terry Shafer, Betty Gathman (Russ), Conny Heggen (Carl), Tommy Shafer, Jerry Shafer (Mary), Debby Lind and Patty Nichols (Greg). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
