He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxine Walte and Richard Gates (Dick); and his stepfather Edward Walte. He is survived by: his children, Matthew Gates of Macomb, IL and Danielle Finin (Matthew) of Davenport, IA; and his siblings, Richard Gates (Linda), Kim Schilson (Tim) of Basco, IL, Patrica Jaeger (Helmet) of East Setauket, NY, Tonya Mulkey (John) of Chuluota, FL and Margaret Walte of Lomax, IL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
