He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Merritt and Verla J. Merritt (Coleman); his former wife Lucille Vass; his son Timothy Merritt; and his brothers, Marvin, Norman and Ronald.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hollenstine of Carthage; his daughter Marlena Siverly (William); his stepchildren, Bobbie Dietrich (Denny), Mike Hollenstine (Kim) and Kevin Hollenstine (Mary); his granddaughter Aimee Young (Eric); his stepchildren, Noel Bruns (Adam), Christina Wainscott, Joshua Siverly (Autumn), Jessica Mugnolo (Carmen), McKinnsey Bolton (Dylan), Elijah Siverly, Issac Siverly and Brittney Bowden; and his stepgrandchildren, David Dietrich (Chrissy), Paula Hilgenbrinck (Wayne), Bryan Dietrich (Danyel), Rickey Williams (Nicole), Derek Hollenstine (Megan Welker) and Sarah Hollenstine. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews.
