He was predeceased by: his parents, James Frederick and Irene Walton (Fosdyck); his children, Greg Smith and Pam Midlane; and his siblings, Robert, Thomas Walton, Ellen Cassel, Betty Green and Charles "Sci" Walton.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Walton of Carthage; his children, Craig James Walton (Jerri) of Heber Springs, Claris Ann Biddenstadt (Randy) of Carthage and Michael Rich Novak-Walton (Jason) of Keokuk; his daughter-in-law Kay Smith of Hoffman Estates; his grandchildren, Terah Fletcher (Casey), Tyshia Walton, James Daniel Walton, Ryan Dale Biddenstadt, Megan Ann Lamporte (Jason) and Alexis Paige Foster (Evan); his great grandchildren, Aiden Walton, Cullen Walton, Gracie Brewer-Walton, Justice Grice of Alysa Grice, J. C, Tompsett, Tyler Fletcher, Quinton Foster, Dallas Lamporte and KayLynn Bucy; and his sister Wilma Markley (Don) of California.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church (DOC) in Carthage or Lee County Hospice.
