He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Peters Owen and Nina Ethel Owen (Weeks); his sister Martha; and his half-siblings, Ethel Boston and Eugene Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Perkins; his daughters, Tammy Sullivan of Quincy, IL and Tracie Owen of Gunnison, CO.; his stepson Michael Perkins (Stacy Hanlin) of Quincy, IL; his grandchildren, James Sullivan, Olivia Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan and John Sullivan (Melanie); and his stepgrandsons, Zachary Perkins, Andrew Perkins and Trevor Perkins (Becky).

Memorials may be directed to H.U.G.S., First Presbyterian Church in Carthage, or The American Cancer Society.
