He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolla Daniel and Bessie Reed (Bush); and his siblings, Pearl Jean Morrison, Laura Weller, Ruth Morgan and Danny Reed.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Reed; his children, James Reed Jr., Kathy Adkins (David) and Cindy Mitchell (Curt); his grandchildren, Elisabeth Adkins, Micah Mitchell (Jenna), Caleb Mitchell (Pauline) and Matthew Mitchell; his great grandchildren, Sophie and Eva Mitchell; and his brothers, Edward Reed (Barbara), Curtis Reed and Thomas Reed (Charlotte). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
