He was predeceased by: his parents, James Leslie and Velma Black (Burrell); his wife Alice C. Fogle; and his brothers, James L. Black and Roland "Wokie" Black.
He is survived by: his children, Les Black (Nancy), Kim Spencer (Dennis) and Marianne Cowan (Steve); his grandchildren, Austin Black (Steven Mattli), Jill Minor, Lindsay Rawls (Joe Chotner), Jennifer Bonner, Crystal Ulhaq (Azhar), Denise Ridgway (Nathan), Lisa Vannoy (Justin), Laura Haltom (Dustin), Chris Cowan (Erica) and Tierney Cole (Kelly); his great grandchildren, Stephanie, Katie, Larry, Nile, Noah, Niah, Hunter, Alec, Timothy, Ainsley, Colbie, Macie, Eli, Logan, Preslie, Harlyn and Easton; and his great great grandchildren, Lynnon and Isla.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home (322 N Division St, Carterville, IL 62918). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Veteran's Honor Wreaths.
