With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Evelyn Joan Stephens of Carrollton, Illinois, born in Cairo, Illinois, who passed away on January 31, 2023 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Wallace Cook and Helen Katherine Cook (Wright); her brothers, James Cook and Gary Cook; her children, John Stephens Jr., James Stephens, David Stephens, Robert Stephens and Emily Sonnier; and her grandchildren, Ashley Herrin and Scarlet Daisy Jane Joyce.
She is survived by: her husband John Stephens; her children, Shelley Embry (Jim) of Greenfield and Mandy Joyce (Nathan) of Godfrey; her sister Beverly Craig of St. Peters, MO; and her grandchildren, Jayme Buckley, Heather Herrin, Stephanie Herrin, Noah Herrin, Joshua Heaton, Dylan Embry, Delaney Miller, Alex Stephens, Sean Stephens, Lydia Steckel, Calvin Joyce and Grant Joyce. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association.
