He was predeceased by: his parents, John Roy Elsey, Jr. and Marjorie Jean Whiteman Elsey; and his brother Samuel Lee Elsey. He is survived by: his sibling Oaks Baptist Church; his wife Candi Dupree Elsey; his daughters, Abigail Elsey and Marjorie Elsey; and his siblings, James Elsey (Teri), Cathy Newman (Edward), Lilly Newman (Curtis), Dora Gravel and Marla Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
