He was predeceased by: his parents, Rada Isabell Newman and Nelson; and his siblings, Bob, Carroll, Tom, Roger, Donnie, Scott, David and Charlotte Stephens.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Smith; his children, Phillip Newman, Jr., Corey Smith (Tiffanie), Sarah Leland, Amy Sandusky and Hannah Newman (Shaina Ward); and his siblings, Charlie Newman (Minnie), Ronald Newman, Frank Newman, Gertrude Hart, Ann Newman, Barb Fletcher, Mary Jane Doneghue and Terri Buchanan. He is also survived by several grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Donations are asked to be made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
