He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ralph David and Rosa Vianna Smith (Cotter); his wife Mary Louise Shields; his children, Steven Smith of Carmi, Cindy Harris (Gary) of Bone Gap and Cathy Smith of Chicago; his siblings, Harold Smith of Woodbridge, VA, Buell Bernard, Adrian Smith of Newburgh, IN, Phillip Smith of San Antonio, TX, Michael Smith of Bloomington, IL, Vivian Tucker of Roanoke, VA and Jean Stricklin of Lansing, IL; his grandchildren, Patrick Harris (Kristen) of Albion, Craig Harris (Shelby) of Effingham, Caitlinn Speir (Jacob) of Grayville, Brandon Harris of Charleston and Ryan Harris of Bone Gap; his great grandchildren, Levi, Holland Harris, Hadley, Hayden Harris and Weston Speir; his nieces and nephews, Jeff Gowdy, Jenny Bolin (Jeff), Hannah, Samantha, Maegan, Whitney, Kash and Azlynne; and his siblings, Cameron Smith and Venita Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lowell's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Walnut Grove Baptist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
