It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen Hortin of Carmi, Illinois, who passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Leon and Wanda Laura Hale (Mills); her brother Stanley Hale; and her sister-in-law Becky Turner Hale. She is survived by: her husband Charles Roger Hortin; her siblings, Sheila Peacock (Joe), Colleen Masser (Bruce), Ron Hale and Beth Browning (Roger); her nieces and nephews, Matthew Peacock (Marla), Jennifer Johnson (David), Dustin Hale (Kara), Cheryl Clemens (Wes) and Tyler Browning (Kali); her sister-in-law Pam Hale; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Olivia Rose Peacock, Gracelyn Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Andrew Gillihan, Cassie Zimmer (Derek), Jaxon Browning, Jenna Beth Browning, Josie Browning and Devin Hale; her sister-in-law Mary Jane Lim (Wellman); her niece Jennifer Murphey (Shawn); and her great-nephew Eli Murphey.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Karen's memory to Stewart Street Baptist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
