He was predeceased by: his parents, George Herbert and Mamie Knight (Volner); his wife Ruby Ellen Carter; his stepfather Dennis Morningstar; his sons, Michael L. Knight and Roger Knight; his daughter-in-law Linda Knight; his grandchild Cristan Michael Knight; and his siblings, Rev. H. V. Knight, Lloyd Knight, Mary Jane Knight, Linda Hamm, Florence Bustamonte and Ruth Landis.
He is survived by: his children, Larry Knight (Loretta) of Carmi, IL, Janet Boren (Mike) of Carmi, IL, Vickie Anderson (Gary) of Norris City, IL, Tim Knight (Amanda), Belleville and Dennis Knight (Kathy) of Cumberland, VA; and his sister Opal Hankla of Dundee, IL.. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Beginning Church of God (401 W Sycamore St, Carmi, IL 62821). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to New Beginning Church of God and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
