He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Whitley and Alice Whitley (Chapman); his brothers, James "Jim" Whitley and Ronnie Whitley; and his sister-in-law Karen Whitley.
He is survived by: his wife Charlene Whitley of Carmi, IL; his daughters, April McLin (Craig) of Evansville, IN and Jennifer Barbre (Brandon) of Carmi, IL; his grandchildren, Gracyn, Violet, Caleb Barbre, Griffin and Mason Reutter; his brother David Whitley of Enfield, IL; and his siblings-in-law, Tom Cleveland (Sandi), Trena Whitley and Donna Whitley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gary's memory to the CWC Booster Club and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
