With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Derrick Jordan Burnett of Carmi, Illinois, born in Fairfield, Illinois, who passed away on May 25, 2023 at the age of 32. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Frank Burnett and Bernard "Butch" Sturdavant. He is survived by: his parents, Shelly L. Burnett (Sturdavant) of New Haven, IL and Alan Burnett (Cheryl) of Carmi, IL; his siblings, Justin Burnett (Stephanie) of Carmi, IL, Chad Burnett of Carmi, IL and Kyle Burnett (Ella) of Crossville, IL; his stepsiblings, Hunter Williams (Kinsey) and Levi Williams; his grandmothers, Wava Burnett of Carmi, IL and Joyce M. Sturdavant of Reed City, MI; his nieces and nephews, Parker Burnett, Zoie Hull, Hallie Burnett, Mollie Burnett and Myla Burnett; and his aunts and uncles, Kimberly Sturdavant, Bernice "Renee" Sturdavant, Bernard "Tiger" Sturdavant Jr., Candy Ann Voliva, Larry Burnett (Denise), Mary Ann Burnett, Carolyn Clifford and Kevin Burnett (Tara).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Derrick's memory to Brownsville School and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can also be mailed to 609 W. Main St, Carmi, IL. 62821.
