With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Martha Sabo of Carlinville, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. The passing of Martha leaves a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William McNeely and Latisha McNeely (Funderburg); her husband Robert E. Sabo Sr.; her siblings, William, Frank, Calvin, Talmadge, Harriet, Juanita and Louise; her grandchildren, Jake Gregory, MarthaAnn Gregory and Ellen Melinda Odeh; and her great grandchild Elizabeth Butler.
She is survived by: her children, Robert E. Sabo, Jr. (Barb) of Moscow Mills, MO, Donna Smith of Bloomington, IL, Tammy Popham (Todd) of Crescent City, IL, Teresa Alvarez (Luis) of London, England and Michelle Gregory (Jake) of Brookfield, WI; her grandchildren, Jennifer Logsdon, Jamie Sabo, Latrisha McGehee, Sheena Kunz, Amie Watanaarepornchai, Alexandria Alvarez, Daniel Alvarez, Rodney Popham, Abigail Alvarez, Elena Gregory and Danielle Gregory; and her siblings, Alec McNeely of Atlanta, GA, Billie Farrer (James) of Chattanooga, TN and Hazel Horseman (Ronnie) of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Carlinville United Methodist Church (201 S Broad St, Carlinville, IL 62626). A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 at 4:30 PM at the Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
Her contributions to the church community included attending women's Bible study, providing casseroles, attending church potlucks, teaching vacation Bible school, singing in the church choir, working at the food bank, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
