He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hallbauer and Nellie Hallbauer (Loehr); his brother Carl Hallbauer; and his grandson John Barrick Leffers. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Hallbauer of Carlinville, IL; his children, Ron Hallbauer (Alison) of Carlinville, IL, Brenda Gieseke (Don) of Hannibal, MO and Ann Leffers (John) of Harker Heights, TX; and his sister Ruth Garrison (Roger). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
