He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Burke and Vaughty Hale Denby; his former wife Susan Turnbull; his wife Karla K. Loveless; his brothers, Thomas Hale Denby and David Hale Denby; and his nephew Thomas Burke Denby. He is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Carlinville Area Hospital.
