He was predeceased by: his wife Dolly; his son Jason "Tank" Eugene Carter; his brother-in-law Robert Caraway; and his nephew Chad O'Keefe. He is survived by: his sons, Joshua Eugene Carter of Carbondale and Christopher Eugene Carter (Lindsey) of Carbondale; his grandchildren, Cameron, Ethan, Leah, Annabelle, Michael and Harlow; and his sisters-in-law, Jerry Nance (Sherri), Pam Robbins (Bud), Jeanie O'Keefe (Dennis), Beth Francis (Bruce), Becky Roberts (Alan), Sandy Taylor (Lee) and Margie Williams (Ed). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
